Future Research Plans: AIGS Research Vision 2025–2030

Acharya Institute of Graduate Studies (AIGS) is undergoing a strategic transformation from a teaching-intensive institution to a research-intensive ecosystem. Our roadmap for the next five years focuses on elevating academic rigor, fostering innovation, and securing a global footprint in high-impact research.

    Strategic Research Objectives

    • Publication Excellence: Target a cumulative total of 300+ Scopus/Web of Science indexed publications by 2030.
    • Intellectual Property: Secure at least 50 granted patents and commercialize five technologies.
    • External Funding: Secure ₹5 Crore in external research grants from agencies such as DST, DBT, ICSSR, and UGC-STRIDE.
    • Centres of Excellence: Establish a dedicated Centre of Excellence in Artificial Intelligence & Data Science by 2028.
    • Innovation & Start-ups: Strengthen our incubation centre to support 50 student and faculty start-ups, with 10 receiving immediate seed funding.

    Five-Year Research Output Targets

To ensure measurable growth, AIGS has established year-wise benchmarks for research productivity and intellectual property:

Year Scopus/WoS Papers Patents to be Filed Expected Granted Patents
    2025-26 60 8 5
    2026–27 75 10 8
    2027–28 100 20 15
    2028–29 120 25 20
    2029–30 150 30 25
    Cumulative 300+ 70+ 60+

    Research Infrastructure & Incentives

We are committed to providing a supportive environment for our faculty and student researchers through the following initiatives:

    • Dedicated Research Block: Construction of a new academic and research block featuring 20 specialized research laboratories and start-up studios by 2027.
    • Financial Incentives:
      (I) ₹15,000 for every publication in Scopus Q1/Q2 journals.
(II) ₹50,000 for every granted patent.
    • Seed Funding: Internal grants ranging from ₹1 Lakh to ₹5 Lakh for approved faculty research projects.
    • Academic Upgradation: Aiming to increase the number of PhD-holding faculty from 40 to 75 by 2030.
    • Global Collaboration: Targeting 50 new MoUs by 2030 to facilitate joint research and international faculty-student exchange programs

    Innovation & Entrepreneurship Ecosystem

Our research is not confined to laboratories; we aim for societal impact. AIGS will upgrade its existing incubation centre into a NIDHI-TBI (DST-supported) facility by 2027 to bridge the gap between research and market-ready products.

Research & Publication: Gnana Vardhini Journal

As part of our commitment to stering a rigorous research culture, the institute is reviving its flagship publication, Gnana Vardhini. This bi-annual, in-house, multi-disciplinary journal serves as a platform for high-quality, original research across sciences, humanities, and social sciences. To ensure the highest academic integrity, the journal employs a double-blind peer-review process and adheres strictly to COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) guidelines. Our strategic goal is to transition Gnana Vardhini from a domestic publication to a globally indexed journal, aligning with UGC-CARE parameters and eventually securing Scopus and Web of Science indexing.

    Strategic Roadmap: Gnana Vardhini (2026–2028)

Phase Timeline Key Strategic Actions Milestone
Phase 1: Foundation Jan – Feb 2026 Define multidisciplinary scope; form an editorial board with 5-10 external experts; verify ISSN status. Draft Journal Manual & Committed Editorial Team
Phase 2: Infrastructure Mar – Apr 2026 Deploy Open Journal Systems (OJS); build a database of 50+ subject reviewers; ensure UGC compliance. Functional Website & Submission System Live.
Phase 3: Launch May – Jun 2026 Issue formal Call for Papers (CFP); implement double-blind review; register DOIs via Crossref. Publication of Volume 1 (10-15 high-quality papers).
Phase 4: Growth July 2026+ Apply for DOAJ indexing; maintain bi-annual cycle; prepare for Scopus application after 2 years. Transition to Print & Global Indexing Eligibility.

    Quality Standards & Governance

    • Integrity: Mandatory plagiarism screening using tools like Turnitin and strict AI-content disclosure policies.
    • Objectivity: To avoid "in-house" bias, a maximum of 20% of papers per issue will be accepted from internal AIGS faculty.
    • Accessibility: The journal follows an Open Access model to maximize visibility and citation impact.
    • Turnaround: We aim for a rigorous but efficient 4–6 week review cycle using standardized evaluation rubrics.
