The NCC is a responsive, learning and continuously evolving organization. Its activity is guided by certain Core Values that we endeavour to instill among all ranks of the NCC. These include the following:
Training Programme: The college offers training under the Army Wing of the National Cadet Corps. Parades and theory classes are held during the afternoon session on Saturdays between 01:00 PM to 06:00 PM. The total number of parades in a year is twenty-one in number and will be held in the college campus.
The regular parades include training in drill, map reading, weapon training, obstacle training and Military subjects (theory classes) etc. In addition to the regular parade Cadets will get training for firing, social service and adventure. The adventure training/activities includes parasailing, horse riding, rock climbing, firing, mountaineering, cycle expedition, motorcycle expedition, trekking etc.
Drill: Cadets must be made to understand the aim and purpose of teaching drill, so that they are suitably motivated and do not take it as "fatigue". Emphasis will be laid on correct bearing, marching, saluting and arms drill. Inter-squad competitions may be organized to create interest.
Weapon Training: Cadets generally take keen interest in weapon training and firing. Units must liaise with nearby Service and Para-Military Units to ensure that all cadets get an opportunity to fire their authorized administration. Use of firing simulators may be made to optimize training efforts where possible.
Adventure Training: Adventure activities have been incorporated in NCC training with the aim of inculcating and strengthening leadership traits amongst the cadets. These activities in NCC can be broadly divided into the following.
Use of B & C: The Cadets are exempted from CDS examination conducted by UPSC and get a direct entry into SSB. The Cadets should have an 'A' or 'B' grade in 'C' certificate examination. Also, preference is given to B & C certificate holders in Defense Services, Police services, Paramilitary forces, Fire forces, BSF, Territorial Army, Industrial Security Forces, Public Sectors, and all uniform services. 60 Engineering Seats, 16 Medical Seats, 6-7% of Post Graduation seats are reserved for NCC cadets in most of the Indian Universities. A reservation for NCC cadets in Engineering Seats, Medical Seats and Post Graduation seats are available in most of the Indian Universities.
An Official Song of the NCC titled "Kadam Mila Ke Chal" was adopted in 1963. This was, however, changed to the current NCC Song titled "Ham Sabh Bhartiya Hain" in Oct 1982. "Ham Sabh Bhartiya Hain" - NCC song is written by Sudarshan Fakir.
Camp training is an essential part of the NCC training program that aims to instill regimented life, camaraderie, leadership qualities, self-confidence, and self-reliance in cadets. The camps provide a practical application of the knowledge gained during institutional training, exposing cadets to camp life excitement. The NCC organizes over 1450 camps annually, with each camp designed for 400 to 600 cadets and staffed by 3 or 4 officers and 15-20 ANOs (Associate NCC Officers) / PI Staff (Permanent Instructors) / WTLOs (Whole Time Lady Officers) / GCIs (Girl Cadet Instructors). Junior Division/Junior Wing cadets must attend at least one camp, while Senior Division/Senior Wing cadets are required to attend at least two camps during their enrollment. Each year, more than 8 lakh cadets attend these camps.
The NCC Camps are usually conducted at various locations and generally starts with an inauguration ceremony. The training at NCC Camps includes drill practice, weapon handling, theory lessons, shooting, obstacle courses, and cultural practices. Competitions, drills and marathons are organized as part of a few NCC Camps. Every night, cultural activities are conducted to showcase the NCC cadets' talents
