Facilities for Persons with Disabilities at AIGS
Acharya Institute of Graduate Studies is committed to providing equal opportunities and an accessible environment for students, staff, and visitors with disabilities. In alignment with the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (RPwD) Act and UGC guidelines, the campus has integrated specialized infrastructure to ensure barrier-free movement and a supportive learning atmosphere.
1. Physical Infrastructure & Mobility
The campus is designed to allow independent movement for wheelchair users and persons with mobility impairments. Key features include:
- Ramps and Handrails: All major building entrances, including academic blocks, the library, and administrative offices, are equipped with non-slip ramps. These ramps feature appropriate gradients and sturdy handrails to facilitate safe and easy access.
- Elevators and Wheelchair Lifts: Multi-story buildings are equipped with elevators designed for wheelchair accessibility, featuring wide doors and low-reaching control panels. In specific areas where traditional elevators are not feasible, specialized wheelchair lifts are installed to bridge level differences.
- Availability of Wheelchairs: For individuals who require assistance upon arrival or during their time on campus, wheelchairs are stationed at the main reception and security points. Staff are trained to assist individuals in using these facilities to navigate the premises comfortably.
2. Specialized Restroom Facilities
AIGS provides dedicated washrooms designed specifically for persons with disabilities. These facilities include:
- Spacious Layouts:Ample floor space to allow for a full 360-degree wheelchair turn.
